Commercial Built-in Vacuum system in hotel

We provided a commercial central vacuum system at the Clayton Hotel in Cambridge, (formerly the Tamburlaine Hotel) and part of O’Callaghans Hotels Group.
- To provide low maintenance central vacuum cleaning of a 7-storey hotel building
- To provide for a suitable number of simultaneous operators
- To incorporate energy efficiency controls
- To provide central collection of waste material at a machine location in refuse store
The hotel was seeking a mix of operational efficiency, improved cleaning performance and a clear and measurable cost saving. Covering a total of 155 guest rooms throughout the 7-storey building, suitability for a number of simultaneous operators was paramount. In addition, providing a low maintenance system with the ability to collect waste at a central convenient location was key to delivering the operational, performance and financial efficiency the client set out to achieve.
In order to meet the requirements, a Beam Industrial Vacuum Plant was installed incorporating 2 5.5Kw U-4 Matic units integrated with a speed controller, which controls the speed of the motor according to the number of operatives working at the same time. The system allows for up to 6 users at any one time without loss of performance. A Beam Filter unit accompanies the system, with a 160L capacity. The filter has a built in pressure sensor for automatic control, optimum cleaning performance and energy efficiency. Supporting the system are 123 vacuum inlets spread throughout all 7 floors allowing easy convenient access to all rooms and communal areas.
The built in speed controls deliver 25% less power consumption than the current portable vacuum cleaner directive requires. The central vacuum system will provide up to 30% labour savings, equating to an estimated 2640 man hours annually resulting in significant cost savings. Such a system has delivered the required efficiencies, performance, monetary, and environmental.
