The New Beam Retractable Hose Management System

Date: 30 September 2020

The New Beam Retractable Hose Management System

When building a new home, most people choose to invest in products that will provide lasting benefits for years to come, meaning quality and value are key considerations. Beam's new retractable hose management system ticks both of these boxes!

I’m intrigued, tell me more…

The Beam Hose Management System is a central vacuum hose that is contained within the wall and is pulled from the inlet for use, automatically retracting when you have finished vacuuming. The hose then stores itself within the walls of your home in seconds.

A true innovation, this retractable hose offers a modern alternative to the standard 9m cleaning hose traditionally supplied with all Beam systems.

And how does the Beam Retractable Hose Management system work?

The Beam Central Vacuum System itself works the same way as always, with ultra-strong suction and power on demand, however, this new retractable hose offers the latest in central vacuuming, providing the ultimate hose storage solution.

Your central vacuum hose is always within reach, providing the perfect solution for efficient cleaning, hidden from sight.

Is it easy to use?

The most popular question of all - and the answer is a simple, YES!

Watch our how-to video below. Everything is explained in under 1 minute.

Beam Retractable Hose Management System
Step by step

1.    Open the valve located in the wall & pull out the length of hose you require
2.    Connect the cleaning attachment of your choice to the hose
3.    Pull on the black handle to lock the hose and start the system
4.    Enjoy powerful and convenient cleaning
5.    When finished, push the black handle in to release the hose
6.    Disconnect the hose handle and place your hand over the hose opening to allow it to retract
7.    Close the valve door and the system will stop automatically

When is the best time to install this?

This is a key consideration and brings up two answers in one!

1.    The best time to do the installation is at 1st fix stage alongside the electrician.

However…

2.    It is important that the system is planned during the early stages of the build process – long before the electrical and plumbing.

How is it installed? Beam Hose Management retracting into wall

Each retractable hose is built into the central vacuum ducting, which is ducted through the roof-space or under the floor of the build, just like a traditional central vacuum system installation. The difference is that, with this system, larger bends are used to facilitate the retraction of the hose.

How many inlets would I need?

With the ability to store up to 50 feet of hose, one wall connection can cover up to 1,900 sq/ft of vacuuming space.
The average house would typically require one Retractable Hose Management System upstairs and one downstairs, depending on the style of the property.
After planning permission has been granted, simply email your house plans and the Beam experts can advise you as to how many inlets are suitable for your home.

How much does it cost?

As a guide, a Beam Central Vacuum with Retractable Hose Management System costs around £2k - £2.5k/€2.4k - €3k. This is of course an approximation, depending on the style and size of the property.

Is there any servicing required?

The servicing is the same as any other Beam Central Vacuum System – whilst very little maintenance is required, the vacuum unit will require replacement filters and motor brushes over its lifetime.

To maintain your system, it is recommended that a general service is carried out every 6-7 years to ensure your system is performing to its optimum level. The cost for a service is £59.50.

Are there any replacement parts available?

All Beam systems are designed using high quality products by world-leading manufacturers. If required, replacement parts, e.g. the hose, can be purchased via the Beam online store.

An important one: Is it suitable for my new house?

Good news! This system can be fitted into all new construction homes regardless of type. It is the ideal system for those planning to build or in the process of building.

A must-have for the modern home!

Can it be retrofitted for existing homes?

In some very limited cases, the system can be retrofitted – for example into an existing bungalow.

This would have to be assessed on a case-by-case basis and would require a survey by a Beam Technical Sales Representative or Approved Distributor.

In most instances, the system unfortunately cannot be added to an existing Central Vacuum System as it requires a different ducting layout through the floors and walls.

What’s the guarantee?

There is a 3-year guarantee on the central vacuum unit and a 1-year guarantee on the retractable hose and tools.
