Beam Join The North East Galway Friends of Belarus to Renovate Orphanage in Russia

The North East Galway Friends of Belarus is a charity group of volunteers that travel to Belarus and Russia yearly to carry out much needed repairs in orphanages. Founded ten years ago, the charity organisation began working in Belarus following the Chernobyl disaster and has since developed a system for building and renovating orphanages in Russia.

The North East Galway Friends of Belarus fund-raises throughout the year and have donated €30, 000 - €40, 000 on a yearly basis to ensure children in these orphanages get a better start in life by creating full sanitary, comfort, learning and recreational facilities.

Headed by Beam’s Galway dealer, Sean Gavin, 17 local tradesmen and businessmen including Beam’s Leitrim dealer, Padraic Higgins, and our very own Installations Manager, Mark Chesney, flew to Latvia and travelled by bus to Opouchka where they spent 10 days renovating 14 bedrooms in an uninhabitable wing of a local orphanage.
