Ross Cremin is inspiring self-builder's everywhere with the creation of his micro-blog, 'A Passive Road to Longford,' on the social networking platform, Tumblr. Ross began his dream of building a passive home in County Longford in 2011 and he has shared his experience from gaining planning permission, demolishing the existing building, getting the build underway up to the present day where he has now decided to change the design of the build.
Ross has ensured that his building is as airtight as possible and has incorporated a Mechanical Ventilation system with Heat Recovery from Beam, supplied by local approved distributor, Padraic Higgins. This Axco MVHR system is certified by the Passivhaus Institute and provides a constant stream of clean, fresh, warm filtered air, without the need for extractor fans or window vents.
In creating this micro-blog, Ross shares extensive knowledge and advice on how to build a passive home in layman's terms as well as sharing knowledge gained, ie. the worries, frustration, excitement and determination that comes with a project like this - which anyone building a new home can relate to!
