Axco Heat Recovery Ventilation - WHAT IS AN AXCO HRV?

AXCO Ventilation logo

AXCO Heat Recovery Ventilation Unit

Fresh air is drawn into the home via a low energy continuous running ventilation unit, located in the roofspace/utility area of your home.  The ventilation unit filters the incoming air to remove pollutants and insects.  Once passed through the unit, the warm, clean, fresh, filtered air is distributed around the home through a series of ducts which are run to each habitable room ie. living room, bedroom etc.

The air from the wet rooms ie. bathrooms, kitchen, utility areas etc. is extracted and filtered back through the ventilation unit.  This positive pressured air brought in (distributed) and negative pressured air going out (extracted) allows the air to be changed up to 3.5 times per hour in the living areas, providing balanced ventilation throughout without extract fans or open windows.

Remote Control Hand Device for HRV SystemThe Axco HRV system is designed to recover up to 86% of the heat normally lost through windows, trickle vents and other break-out points i.e. extractor fans in a building structure.

The air being extracted transfers its latent heat via a rotary thermal heat exchanger to the fresh air coming in, i.e. fresh, filtered air enters the home which is warmed to a level of 80% of the air outside.

With economical EC low energy fans and the Specific Fan Power (SFP) below the standard rating of 2, the system costs approximately equal to a 60watt bulb to run.
