What is SAP Appendix Q? SAP is the UK Government's Standard Assessment Procedure for the Energy Rating of dwellings. The SAP (Standard Assessment Procedure) calculates a rating for the energy cost due to the built structure of the home and its heating system, internal lighting and any renewable energy technologies used in the home. It is used to demonstrate compliance with building regulations for dwellings, and to provide energy ratings for new and existing dwellings. In order for product specific data to be eligible for inlcusion in SAP Appendix Q, the product must have been tested to the approved testing methodology for the technology type. Only results from tests conducted by an approved test house will be accepted. |

An energy saving can be made by the use of an Appendix Q listed HRV unit as opposed to non compliant units. The Appendix Q listing only applies where the installation has followed the correct procedures i.e rigid ductwork must be used (flexible ducting not suitable) The AXCO Mechanical Heat Recovery Ventilation (MHRV) system from Beam has been independently tested at the Building Research Establishment (BRE). The system is SAP Appendix Q listed, complies with all building regulations and helps improve SAP/BRE ratings. |
